Travel requirements for passengers aged 6 years and over: Travel from any country to Malta is permitted by showing ONE of the following documents:

 Vaccination Certificate

The vaccination certificate must indicate that no less than 14 days and no more than 270 days have passed since the last dose of the primary vaccination series or if the person has received a booster dose.

For persons aged less than 18 years this validity period is not applicable.

Recovery Certificate
The certificate must indicate that no less than 14 days and no more than 180 days have passed since date of the first positive test. Only the following certificates are currently being accepted:

EU Digital COVID certificate of recovery. Digital COVID certificate having been recognised as equivalent to EU Digital COVID certificate based on EU equivalence decisions issued by the European Commission. Test Certificate of a positive PCR test received not less than 14 days and not more than 180 days prior to travel together with valid proof of a negative PCR test obtained no more than 72 hours before arrival in Malta.

Certificate of negative test result
Only the following test certificates are currently accepted:

Negative PCR test result obtained no more than 72 hours before arrival issued from an accredited lab in English. If unavailable in English, an English translation certified by the laboratory or a medical doctor is to be presented. Negative rapid antigen test result obtained no more than 24 hours before arrival in the format of the EU Digital COVID certificate. RAT tests are not accepted unless on the EU digital COVID certificate format. Results from self-testing are not accepted.

Passengers under 6 years:
Children younger than 6 years do not need to provide a negative PCR test certificate upon arrival.

As from 6th June 2022, persons under the age of 12 years will be exempt from the above-mentioned requirements.

Quarantine:
Travellers over the age of 6 years arriving in Malta without ONE of the documents listed above will be subject to a mandatory quarantine period of 10 days, which may be ended earlier should the traveler take a Covid-19 test on the 7th day and receive a negative result. A person who arrived in Malta and is subject to quarantine may travel out of Malta prior to the end of their quarantine period, provided that they have a negative PCR test carried out within the 72 hours prior to travel and provided they travel directly from the quarantine address to the airport/seaport. Valid Vaccine Certificates

The vaccine certificate must confirm that you have received the full dosage of an EMA approved vaccine administered at least 14 days prior to arrival in Malta. The certificate must also be one which is recognised by the Superintendent of Public Health, namely:

  • Maltese Vaccination Certificate
  • EU Digital COVID Certificate – valid for all EU Member States (Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Benin, Cabo Verde, Colombia, El Salvador, Faroe Islands, Georgia, Iceland, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Panama, San Marino, Serbia, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Togo, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Uruguay and Vatican City have joined the EU Digital COVID Certificate framework, and therefore, the vaccination certificates issued by the countries’ health authorities are also being accepted by the Maltese Authorities)

  • Republic of Angola Digital Certificate of Vaccination Against COVID-19
  • Argentina Ministero de Salud COVID-19 Vaccination

England: NHS Covid Pass (Digital App and NHS Letter)
Wales: NHS Covid Pass Letter
Scotland: NHS Letter demonstrating Covid-19 vaccination status
Northern Ireland: Vaccination document

Vietnam COVID Digital Pass (as shown on PC-COVID App) The Maltese Health Authority is also accepting recognised vaccine certificates with a booster dose of an EMA approved vaccine following a primary full schedule with a WHO approved vaccine on a recognised vaccine certificate.

Vaccines that have been accepted under WHO Emergency Use Listing (EUL) Procedure are also recognised. In the case of vaccines that are not yet authorised by the EMA, the traveller also needs to present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to their arrival in Malta. The following certificates are NOT VALID for travel to Malta:

Vaccine appointment card;
Vaccine certificates with less than 14 days from the final dose;
Saliva/throat test or Self-test.
